Find Out About Friday - How to Create Custom Wallpaper for your Mobile Phone Using My Digital Studio

I am really enjoying looking through the response to the Find Out About Friday Survey.  If you have not completed it yet please do - you have just a week left to do so and to be entered into the prize draw to win a Stampin' Up! shopping spree with me - click here to answer the quick survey.

One of the things that came through in the early responses was a request from several different people for ideas on how to use My Digital Studio.  Each Monday I share a completed project and while you will get some ideas there I have not yet really included any instructions so for this week's Find Out About Friday I thought I would share how you can make a phone screen saver or wallpaper using My Digital Studio (MDS), and include some tips along the way.

OK so let's get started ...

The first thing you are going to need to do is find out the size of your mobile phone screen.  I did this using Google and looked for a measurement in pixels.  Next open MDS and select Custom Project.

On the next screen enter the size of your mobile phone's screen - I have an iphone and my measurements were in pixels, so I selected pixels from the drop down box and then entered my measurements - 640 pixels wide by 1136 pixels high.

MDS will then open a canvas that is exactly the right size for you.  Now you can create what ever you want to appear on your phone.  I started with a custom background - a photo I took of a brick wall.  To do this you go to background papers on the right hand side, click on custom and select your photo.  I then added the elements I wanted onto the page.  Many of them will need resizing which you can do by grabbing the sides of the box around them and when you have a two way arrow pulling it to the size you want.

You may also want to resize the pattern on any patterned papers you use.  To do this double click on the shape you have filled with paper and this screen will come up - once it does use the + and - buttons to get the pattern the size you want it.  You can also move your shape around the pattern to get it exactly as you want.

Once you have the picture you want as you want it you need to get it from MDS to your phone.  The first step is to go to the menus at the top left of your screen, click project, then share and then export pages

This will then take you to a screen which tells you where it is going to be saves - you can change this if you require.

The image will then be saved as a jpeg and MDS will tell you once it has done this.  Then all you need to do is send that to your phone and select it as your screen saver!

I hope you have enjoyed this week's Find Out About Friday - if you have not yet tried MDS you can download a free 30 day trial here.  If you have not yet taken the Find Out About Friday Survey you can do so here.
