Find Out About Friday - The New Stampin' Up! Trimmer

I am so excited about my New Stampin' Up! Trimmer - it arrived yesterday and I am already totally in love with it!  Most paper crafters have a trimmer and it is certainly my most used tool - having a good trimmer can make a real difference.  My old trimmer was good but has now been pushed into retirement.

So why am I so excited about this trimmer?  It really us a paper trimmer designed by paper crafters for paper crafters.  Here are some of the things I have discovered already!

Firstly its really easy to cut all the regular sizes for cards and layers - the base is 15.9cm / 6 1/4 inches wide so you can make all the most common cuts without even opening the extender arm.

It is also really easy to cut very precisely - the top and the bottom are marked in both centimeters and inches, with increments every 1 mm and every 1/16 inch respectively.  There is also a ruler down the side of the trimmer.  The whole of the base is marked every centimeter to help you keep your paper straight.  Also there is a great raised surface to butt your card against to ensure you can keep it in place.  For smaller cuts there is also a full 3.2cm / 1 1/4 inch strip on the right hand side.

Unlike my old trimmer, all the numbers are printed under a plastic cover so they won't wear off.  The base also has an extender arm with measurements out to over 14 inches / 36 cm.  The extender arm sits flush to the trimmer when fully extended and also features a ridge which to butt your card against for straighter cutting, and a stabalising leg to ensure it is as sturdy as the base.

And check this out - the ruler even continues in the join!

The cutting track also has lots of features which make it easy and accurate to use.  Firstly it extends beyond the 32cm / 12 1/2 inch cutting area which means that you can keep your cutting and scoring blades permanently on the track - no need to remove one if you are cutting or scoring even a full sized piece of card.  For someone who is as good at making a mess on their craft desk as I am this is a real win as I will always know where they are!

Now when you do need to change your blades it is very easy to do as the track has a special insertion point. For those of us who often craft on the go there is also a very handy lock on the cutting track - you just slide this lever across, protecting your trimmer and your blades.

The blades themselves are also designed to make accurate and straight cutting easy and reliable.  The blades themselves hook onto the cutting track which makes them more stable which improves the cutting accuracy.  They also feature a precision tip so you know exactly where you are starting your cutting or scoring.  The blades come in two colours - the lighter one is for scoring and the darker one for cutting.

This trimmer is the most stable trimmer I have ever used which gives me even more confidence when I cut.  The sturdy wide base is a real factor in this, and the non skid feet on the base stop the trimmer sliding around while it is in use.

The other thing you can see in this picture is the handy storage compartment in the base - you can store things like your paper folder, extra blades, and other tools here.  The clear cover will make it easy to see what you have stored.  Again for those who craft away from home sometimes this will really help you transport your kit and ensure you have packed it all away again at the end of the day.

I am totally in love with my new trimmer and am sure you will love yours too.  They can be seen on page 180 of the Annual Catalogue and cost just £25.95 - which I think is brilliant for a tool you are going to use every time you craft and which will help you get such great accurate and straight cuts every time.  To order yours just email bekka@feeling-crafty.co.uk
